A Slow Transition Back into Routine
easy like sunday morning vol. 2
Weekly Overview:
This week was alright with me. Routines back in full affect to include making time to see after my body every single day…even when I didn’t feel like it. Having a workout buddy sure helps, Jehan and I did both step class at the gym and a 2 mile walk this week.
I also got out and enjoyed myself with friends to include an impromptu trip to a Hawks game. My neighbor called a mere few hours before the game and told me she had tickets. I started not to go, but you know what? YOLO and we had a great time!
“Spontaneity is the spice of life”
Unplanned, unexpected, and impulsive actions add excitement, joy, and richness, preventing boredom and routine from making life feel dull, leading to memorable experiences and personal growth by breaking comfort zones and embracing the present moment.
I also found my way to a line dance class at a local bar and supported a friend launch a new endeavor.
Saturday my bestie and I found our way to a vintage resell event in Atlantic Station.
A mere few minutes after we found our way in, a coveted vintage item that my husband wanted was perilously in the hands of someone else. We both inched about slowly waiting on the man to put it down.
He did not. I’m still crushed as I write this.
After that we did a little shopping and found our way to a restaurant called Jen Chan’s ready to enjoy their highly rated food until we were turned away because we had no reservation.
Cue FOMO, so now it has moved up on my list of places to try.
On our slow, disappointing walk back to the car, I captured these murals
After another disappointing refusal for seating at Ruby Chow’s because we had no reservation we ended up at Surin of Thailand in Virginia Highland. The theme was we wanted Asian cuisine.
Also, if you have been following my car saga over on IG, I got my car back on Friday, only for it to be dripping oil. It is back in the shop.
I have been placed in ANOTHER loaner. I have no other words on this situation other than than this. My blood pressure shall no longer be raised on this matter.
Weekly Thoughts:
This week felt like a reminder to me that in moments when things feel unsure if you believe and work toward your main goals and desires you just might get what you asked for.
When I was out of work for 14 months, I just kept saying through tears I wanted a position that would fit where I am in this stage of life and that’s just what I got. I was able to ease back into work with no dread, but all gratitude for my life looking so different from 365 days ago.
It sounds so cliche but what you need will always find you. I also believe that you have to be in a positive space to receive it.
What I Wore:
Hawks Game:
Saturday Shopping/Dinner
What I Read / Am Reading:
I finished the Bluest Eye last Sunday and started “The Wilderness” the same day. I moved this up on the list because Obama had it on his top reads of 2025 and I absolutely love the cover.
I’ll just say I’m struggling through it, but almost finished. Reviews as well as my book embroidery images coming, I plan to work on those today/this week.
What I’m Loving:
I am absolutely tardy to the party, but why didn’t anybody for sure tell me how good avocado toast is. I make it with Aldi sourdough bread that has everything seasoning on it. I’m not a breakfast lady, but let’s just say I “be” excited for breakfast. I’m going to switch it up before I tire of it.
I’m also loving my Ōura Ring. I wrote a post about it Thursday and how I’m using it to help me sleep better.
What I Crafted/ Am Crafting:
My son gifted me an embroidery stand for Christmas and I am in love. It makes it so much easier on my back.
I started this piece at the end of last year and this week I reminded myself this is not about rushing through, but sitting in the peace that it gives, I’m not sure when she’ll be done, but I’m excited to see her finished hopefully by the end of the month.
As I mentioned above, this week I plan to start on my project where I embroider something onto a sweatshirt for each book I read this year.
Well that’s it for this week.
How was your first week back adulting in 2026?
Thanks for rocking with me!
Mimi

I've been using a Oura ring for a while and it has been excellent for healing me monitor changes in my health. My sleep has been better since prioritizing it last year.
Following your embroidery journey has inspired me to bring out my calligraphy tools. I’ve had them for years and never started this hobby I’ve always been interested in. I’m pulling it out and getting started this week.
