Good and Busy
easy like sunday morning vol. 3
Weekly Overview:
ATL city proper saw me more times this week than it saw me collectively the whole month of December. This was one of those weeks where I knew well in advance it would be busy and it was kind of looming over my head, not in a bad way, but in a way where I was like just let me get through.
I made my way to my weekly step class. That is really one of the highlights of every week for me. When I started going about two years ago I was so intimidated because I didn’t know the moves and it just seemed so difficult. But I feel so good now that I stuck with it, it’s fun, and it’s good for my health.
I also ran 2.5 miles straight through this week on the treadmill in preparation for my race on February 1. I’ll try to run that back or some version of it next week outside.
As an Alpha Kappa Alpha woman, Thursday was Founders’ Day and while I would’ve loved to have partied with my sisters, my Glenn Jones concert redo was on the calendar. Last year we went to the original concert, but the electricity went out so they rescheduled it for last Thursday and we had a time!
We were in there with the for real old heads. They sure know how to party.
My homegirl Amelia and I went to Fitness on the Field at the Mercedes Benz stadium Friday night. We had a time, then grabbed dinner and drinks after. After that class I am very certain, even though I already knew it, I don’t like HIIT.
Saturday, baby girl competed in a ballet competition that took ALL DAY. During the breaks, I managed to take my son to work and pick him up.
Sunday, baby girl had a master class at Atlanta Ballet. While we waited on her, my husband and I went to breakfast and to IKEA for some closet storage ideas because we desperately need more closet space. It’s time to get creative. Stay tuned for that upcoming project.
Ended Sunday with my monthly sorority meeting.
Weekly Thoughts:
One thing I sat with a bit this week after reading the book Glorious by Bernice McFadden is that it is amazing how one small thing can change the trajectory of our lives for good or bad. In this particular book, in the beginning she talks about an event that happened and all of the specifics of the fallout of said event, and if those things wouldn’t have happened Easter, the main character’s life wouldn’t have taken the path it did. The remainder of the book told the story of her life and it was a very interesting one.
Very good book, my first 5 star read of the year.
What I Wore:
I have to get back in the habit of taking photos of my outfits. I did manage this one. You see my little bit of pink and green for Founders’ Day!
What I Read:
I was on a roll this week. I finished Glorious and started The Great Mann.
Glorious was excellent and my first book by Bernice McFadden. Sugar has been on my list but when Glorious was available through Kindle Unlimited I decided to download it. So glad I did.
I’m currently working through The Great Mann. I should be finished in the next day or so. It’s for my bookclub next Sunday. It started off really good, I’m enjoying it, but it is dragging a little in the middle.
What I Listened To:
I have resurrected this oldie but goodie and have played it no less than five times in the last week. Those unplugged albums went so hard. What a time to be alive.
What I Crafted:
I didn’t craft as much as I would’ve liked, but I did manage to start on my sweatshirt adding “The Bluest Eye”. I have filmed some content around the process, should be out sometime next week.
How was your week?
Thanks for rocking with me!
Mimi

I’ve been wanting to do fitness on the field! It looks so fun!
