2024 Trial Run. College Decision. Galentine's Day
slowly getting it together to hit February running
The saying that February is really the start of the new year and January is just a test run? I’m going with that.
I never intended to hit the ground running, but I did intend to do better than I’ve done, but no better time than the present to get it together.
The highlight of the first few weeks of the year is my son has decided on where he will continue his education. I have been asked to keep the announcement to myself until “Decision Day” in April. I will say as his parents, we are happy with his choice. His acceptance came with merit and for that we are grateful. I’m starting to get excited to see him move on to the next phase of his life. I’m sad, but also very happy for him.
My daughter competed in her first dance competition of the season and came out of the gate winning. Being a dance mom is not for the weak, but I won’t hold you, seeing her on stage doing the thing she loves makes it all worth it. If you missed my “ Dance Mom Confessions” video on Instagram…here you go.
I’m slowly getting back on the eating right, exercise bandwagon. I’ve been feeling kind of blah lately and I’m sure it’s because I’m not prioritizing fitness and food like I was. I was feeling so good, so back to it I go in February. I’m reading Atomic Habits and really enjoying the concept of “habit stacking” I’m starting this week consciously adding in healthy protein when I can to every meal. I’ll share more once I get a good grip on how it’s working.
Love is officially in the air. I’ve curated a Galentine’s Box for Unlikely Market . These sell out every year, orders must be in by February 2nd to guarantee delivery to your bestie (or yourself) on or by Galentine’s Day. I like to think of this box as more than just a collection of items, but as a gesture of appreciation and love for the remarkable women who fill our lives with joy. It comes with a monogrammed sweatshirt that you customize (shirt color, font, thread color, etc.) along with a velvet cosmetic pouch, woven “love” friendship bracelet, a journal, and pen.
I’ll be back later in the week with an update on what I’ve been reading, wearing and some home decor plans we plan on kicking off next month along with the start to my spring garden.
Win(s) for the week:
I’m here and in my semi-right mind
I took all of the photos, created social media content, wrote all of the newsletter/social media copy, and completed all of the necessary back end website work that was needed to drop the Galentine’s Boxes
I walked 5 miles total. I really love to walk, so getting back in the groove has felt good
I haven’t spent any unnecessary money
Loss(es) for the week:
I scrolled the internet too much
See you soon, until then, thanks for rocking with me!
Mimi
P.S. Thank you to those who are paid subscribers to this little corner of substack. As a show of appreciation I am offering you 20% off your Galentine’s box order.
